Circular bathroom showers with privacy partitions offer three primary benefits.  The first of these is a lower cost of installation compared to that of wall mounted shower heads.  They also offer a significant space saving advantage as well, because shower arrays are constructed on open floor space and not just along the wall.  Various configurations can be designed to accommodate a very high number of users in comfort and total privacy.  The very shape of a circular shower stall allows a user more room than most wall mounted equivalents.  It also allows for higher than average level of privacy with either a shower curtain or a shower door.

We have found, over the years, that many older buildings are challenging environments in which to install new showers.  If wall mounted showers are installed in an older building, it can be very expensive to install piping in the walls.  Shower heads have to be mounted every 3 feet to the pipes in the wall, and this can accrue a very uncomfortable cost for the organization.  By contrast, circular showers run on pipes installed in the floor.  In almost every scenario, installing a pipe in the floor is much less expensive than installing pipe in the wall.  Floor mounted showers can run on a single plumbed fixture that comes up through the floor and supplies the user with more than sufficient water pressure at a comfortable, desirable temperature.

The issue of user privacy is also something that we can more effectively address by installing circular showers with privacy partitions.  The typical floor mounted shower array consists of four shower stalls, very similar in construction to restroom stalls, but angled toward the shower head on one end and wider at the entrance.  Pilasters are mounted on either side of the entrance so that partitions panels can be hung across the entrance and used as swinging, locking doors.  This offers users the highest possible level of privacy in a public environment.  Users often comment that taking a shower in one of our stalls is almost as comfortable as taking a shower in their own home.  Commercial Restroom Partitions carries a complete selection of baked enamel, solid plastic, stainless steel, and phenolic core partitions that can be used to construct shower arrays in a broad spectrum of colors.

Installing Restroom Partitions for Dynamic Industries

Overview

We were
recently contracted by Dynamic Industries as a vendor and installer of restroom
partitions and accessories.  Our team was
responsible for the installation of restroom
stalls and select commercial restroom accessories.  The project encompassed the installation of
restroom stalls and accessories.  From
start to finish, the project took only 3 days to complete and experienced no
major setbacks or mishaps.

 

Client
Profile

Dynamic
Industries is an oil-related offshore services organization headquartered in New
Orleans, LA.  The organization
specializes in fabrication, construction, and maintenance.  A new facility, recently constructed in
Gonzales, TX, is dedicated to the monitoring oil flow.  Oil flow can actually be controlled remotely
from this facility if necessary.  This
new facility has three restrooms: 1 men's, 1 women's, and 1 shop. 

 

Project
Details

XPB Locker
and Supply installed 3 stalls in the restroom located near the shop.  We also installed a single urinal
screen.  In this particular restroom,
there was no need for ADA stalls. 
Standard stalls were constructed, measuring 37" each.  We also installed various restroom
accessories, including mirrors and paper towel dispensers. 

 

In the
men's restroom, we installed 2 restroom stalls. 
One of these was a 37" standard stall, while the other was an ADA
compliant stall measuring 62" in width. 

 

We
installed a total of three restroom stalls in the women's restroom.  One stall was a 62" ADA compliant enclosure, while the
other two were 37" standard stalls. 
During the course of the installation, we decided to alter the
measurements of the ADA stall slightly. 
This stall was located between two walls, and the door was difficult to
shut.  To improve the functionality of
the door, we ordered a new pilaster and installed it. 

 

Equipment Spotlight

The client
had ordered baked
enamel restroom partitions because they felt that a cost-effective material
was best suited for the facility.  With
something of a rather small staff, and with virtually no risk of vandalism,
baked enamel proved to be an ideal choice for their requirements.  Baked enamel is a readily available material
that represents the low end of the price spectrum.  While it is easy to scratch, it is also
repainted and comes with a touch up paint kit that can be used to repair
incidental bumps and scratches it may endure. 

 

These restroom
partitions were installed in the floor mounted, overhead braced
configuration.  This configuration is one
of the sturdiest mounting configurations, second only to floor to ceiling
mounts.  However, the floor mounted,
overhead braced mount is much easier to install, and it takes much less time
than floor to ceiling build outs. 

 

Additional Accessories Installed During the
Project

While our
primary responsibility was to install restroom partitions for the new facility,
we were also contracted to install certain essential commercial restroom
accessories.  All restrooms required
mirrors and paper towel dispensers.  ADA
stalls were fitted with grab bars per ADA stall construction regulations.  In addition to installing toilet paper
dispensers in the shop, men's, and women's restrooms, we also installed a
convenient disposal fixture for feminine products in the women's restroom.

Commercial shower stalls are an important amenity to consider adding for your customers.  Outdoor environments are better enjoyed by people who can clean up before they return home for the evening.  Athletic facilities of any kind always have showers for players to clean up after practice games and major sporting events.  Many swimming pools now are beginning to install public showers for guests to use before they change into their day clothes.  It is important to note, as well, that many industrial facilities must also have commercial shower stalls as a health and safety precaution for workers who are exposed to hazardous substances during the course of the work day.    When choosing a configuration for your commercial shower stalls, it is best to consider three major factors in determining your shower room layout.  First, you should consider the number of users who will be using the shower room at the same time.  This, in turn, will help you determine the level of privacy you will need to build into each enclosure.  Your building itself should be the final thing you look at.  Some buildings are easier to plumb by going into the walls, while others are more cost effectively plumbed by running new pipe through the flooring.     These determinations should help you narrow down your choices of shower fixtures.  Some fixtures mount to the wall, while others attached to piping that runs through the floor.  Different types of commercial shower stalls can be built around any of these fixtures.  Users can have partial privacy with partitions mounted between separate shower fixtures, or they can have total privacy with either shower curtains or partition panel doors that create a completely enclosed space for each individual user.   Obviously, the more private you design commercial shower stalls, the more the overall cost of your shower room constriction are going to increase.  This is why so many correctional facilities, gymnasiums, and even public schools have often opted for wall mounted shower fixtures with no separation between individual shower heads.  This is beginning to change, however, as restroom partitions become more readily available in a variety of materials, colors, and mounting styles.  Something as simply as a urinal screen can be mounted between shower heads to give each individual a measure of privacy in a room full of other people.     Most users, however, prefer some kind of actual commercial shower stalls that are constructed from full panels on either side.  Partitions panels can be made from cheaper materials, such as baked enamel, but they will eventually suffer from water damage and require repainting, repair, or outright replacement.  We recommend that most faculties use either solid plastic or phenolic core partitions.  Both materials are impervious to moisture and can withstand constant, direct exposure to water.  Phenolic core is also bacteria and oil resistant, so it offers hygienic value in addition to its durability.    Keep in mind that while shower stalls are constructed from the same types of partitions used to build bathroom stalls, they do not have to be rectangular in shape.  Many floor mounted showers utilize a circular or semi-circular shower enclosure design.  The end of the partition closest to the shower head is narrower than the entrance at the front.  Circular or semi-circular assemblies can be cost effectively built with shower curtains that provide full privacy without the added costs of door panels and panel assemblies.
